Bridget and Brendan’s paths first crossed way back at St. Vincent de Paul, where they spent years technically knowing of each other but not really knowing each other. Brendan was a year older, which in grade-school math might as well be a decade, so their interactions were mostly limited to Bridget remembering Brendan from speech team…and Brendan claiming he remembers that too (jury’s still deliberating).
In high school, Bridget was the gold-star rule follower, while Brendan played the role of undercover genius/class clown—so naturally, their worlds didn’t overlap much. But the universe clearly had plans.
Fast-forward a few years: Bridget moved back to Omaha from Portland for OT school at Creighton, and suddenly she and Brendan were running into each other everywhere. And by “everywhere,” we mostly mean Alderman’s Bar after Creighton games. Somehow, every time, they’d end up talking all night—yet neither of them worked up the courage to make a move. Classic.
Enter Samantha Bianchi, mutual friend and unsung hero of this love story. After one fateful night, she cornered Brendan in a bathroom (yes, really) and told him it was time to finally ask Bridget out. Empowered by bathroom-stall wisdom, Brendan grabbed Bridget’s phone and added a calendar event himself: “Jaipur with Brendan – 7:00.”
Their first date was the very next day…and they haven’t stopped choosing each other since.
The rest, as they say, is history—beautiful, hilarious, and still unfolding. 💙
